2008 Musings Wednesday December 10th,
Were does the time go!!!! For those of
you who went to my one person show and did not find me. I APOLIGIZE!!!
Had to leave town in a hurry.... My Father had a heart attack the day
after Thanksgiving.... He is 86 years old and is home and in good
condition. My niece and her family were here for Thanksgiving and it
was a great time. It snowed so we were able to built a couple of
snowmen. Will put up some pics in a few days.

Tuesday, November 18th,

the first weekend of December. Friday December 5th and Saturday the 6th
from 9am to 2pm!!! This is a really great coffee shop with great
coffee, pastries, food, great people and much, much more!!! While I
lived in Texas and my DH live in Colorado these people, owners and
customers were so supportive of him. Come look at some new beads and
jewelry that I am making.

Monday November 3rd,
I
arrived in Colorado one year ago today!!! I do miss my friends in Texas
but do not miss the very hot and humid weather. The doors and windows
are wide open and the sun is shining bright. The mornings are cool and
crisp, the afternoon is warmer and evening are cool.

Monday October 27th,
After
unpacking box after box after box, both for the house and for my studio
(AKA a garage) I went to work making beads and jewelry. Then sent out a
few boxes of beads and jewelry to galleries. I did not arrive in
Colorado last year in time to see the changing of the leaves! So a
couple of weeks ago, my husband and I went to the Rock Mountain
National Forest. It was a wonderful trip. While at the top I started
jumping up and down saying IT'S SNOWING, IT'S SNOWING. People look at
me as if I was crazy because where we were standing it was raining, but
further back the rain had turned to snow they just could not see it.
Then they smiled when it came to where we were.
This is how I felt when it was snowing!

This is how my DH Paul felt!

Thursday September 18th,
There have been many, many, many boxes
to unpack. Most everything is unpacked. There are still two boxes of
art that need to be unpacked. Not sure where they will got but I do
know that I will not be getting rid of any of it. I am able to work but
tools and equipment still need to be organized so that they are easily
accessible. We are really enjoying our new home. It is very
comfortable. We looked at about 75 houses and this is the only one that
we wanted to call home.
Till next time, Bernadette
Wednesday September 10th,
Has
it been over a month already!!!!! I went to the Gathering in Oakland
and had such a great time. Then I came home to inspections, appraisal,
and negotiating repairs on the home that we put a bid on. We closed on
our new home on August 22nd. Then the work began packing the house and
studio. We had to stay organized so that the kitchen boxes did not end
up in the studio (which is in the garage at this time) and the studio
boxes in the kitchen. The movers came to move the furniture and my DH
family came to help unload all the boxes. There are still a few boxes
to unpack and all the art work still need to find a home. I am so happy
to see the art work that has been in storage for 10 months. Thank you
for being patient on orders that were delayed due to the move.
Till next time, Bernadette
Wednesday August 6,
I
will be in Oakland for the ISGB conference leaving tomorrow and will
not return till Monday. Today was a difficult day because we buried my
husband's grandmother. She was 98 years old. It was a beautiful day and
then this evening we finally got some much needed rain.
Till next time, Bernadette
Wednesday July 30,
Can
you believe it!!!!! It is already the end of July. I have been very
busy. We have been looking for a house to call home. The prices here in
Colorado are 2 1/2 time the price as in Texas. We did finally put a bid
on one this last weekend. Now more work! Lots of paper work and because
we are renting there are still lots of things in storage and some of
them are the papers we need for the lender. All this while trying to
get ready for ISGB. It is always great to see friends and make new one.
I really enjoy people and wished that I could remember everyone's name.
Well!!! Here is what I have been working on in glass. The heart is red
glass layered with fine silver.

Till next time, Bernadette
Friday July 11th,
Where
does the time go!!!! For the 4th of July weekend we went to Estes Park
where we saw some spectacular fireworks as well as getting in some
fishing and hiking. There was lots of smoke form the fires in
California so visitors center told us.. I had a bad reaction to the
smoke!!! My eyes burned so bad that I could not open them for almost an
hour as the tears run down my face like a turned on water faucet. I put
some drops in them that helped and we were able to have a great
weekend. I could not see well enough to take pictures but here is a
great one that my husband took.

Have a great weekend everyone, Bernadette
Wednesday July 2nd,
A
couple of weeks ago I was in Albuquerque because my nephew Adam was in
the hospital. His kidneys were failing and his blood pressure was very
high. He was allowed only 8 oz of water per day and no food because of
test that were being done. He kept asking for something to drink. My
heart broke for him. When it was my shift to watch him, his food and
water intake were increased. he was allowed a limited diet (very low
sodium) and his liquid intake was increased to 1500cc a day. His
favorite things to eat are jolly ranchers, Subway cookies, coconut
marshmallows and donuts!!! But his favorite of all is cotton candy!!!!
At first he was limited because the doctors thought he would not be
able to hold it down. I gave him as much as he wanted as long as he ate
his meal. Well, he was so hungry after a 4 day fast that he ate and ate
and ate. He is home now after a 24 day stay in the hospital. However,
he will be starting a round of experimental drugs that I pray will cure
him. I was sad to leave him. A couple days later he asked his mom if it
be possible for me to stay with him.

Till next time, Bernadette
Friday June 27th, I
have been working hard filling orders. Today I got started to late and
it was way to hot, 94 degrees in the studio, (AKA as the shack) to
work. I have to work early in the morning or later in the evening. In
Texas my studio would not drop below 92 degrees in the summer even with
the air conditioner on. Because we are only living here temporary, till
we find a home, we will not be putting to much into it. However, I did
take the time to have a vented box put in and the glass organized. I am
so very happy with it. My husband's friend John built it.

Of
course once I got back to work it did not stay this clean!! This is a
pic from a few months ago when the vent box was built. Now it is filled
with tools, enamels, bits of glass, glass rods and silver. Till next time, Bernadette
Sunday June, 15th Happy
fathers day to all the fathers out there. It was a great day we had a
BBQ with ribs, steak, hamburgers and hot dogs along with lots of side
dishes. Although the food is great, the most wonderful part is to have
and take time with our grandchildren!!! Here is a picture of my DH
playing with our grandchildren.
I will be in New Mexico for a few day! Till next time, Bernadette
Wednesday June, 11th The
Bead & Button Show was a success. My new beads were received quite
well. I am enjoying making them and the ideas are coming faster that I
can make them. I received some custom orders!!!! On Saturday night
while in Milwaukee there was a TORNADO warning. Yes!! a tornado warning!!! Everyone was sent into the hall for safety. It
touched down about 25 miles from where we were and was heading in our
direction but never got to where we were. From my booth I could see out
the doors to the hall and out great big windows. Never in the 12 years
we live in Texas did I see the sky so green. I did miss having my friend Jackie there. But she will be back next year.
Till next time, Bernadette
Tuesday June, 3rdSome more pics for the Bead & Button Show!

Thursday April, 17th The
temperature dropped 48 degrees from Tuesday night to Wednesday night.
The first picture was taken last night at about 5:30 the next one was
taken at about 7:30 this morning. The first one looks like black and
white pictures but it is not. Isn't the sky so blue and beautiful in
the second one. There is very little evidence that it snowed last night.
My friend Jama who lives in Evergreen said that they got about 6" of
snow.

Till next time, Bernadette
Wednesday April, 17th I
have been working many hours filling orders and making bead to put into
jewelry for some of my Galleries. It has been warm here in fact
yesterday it was 81 degrees. Today is another situation!!!! It is
showing and cold. Welcome spring time!!!!
Till next time, Bernadette
Saturday, April 12th I
have not had good ventilation in my studio since I moved to Colorado!!
Plus it took so long to get it up an running that things were
everywhere and it was hard to get around. I was only able to get to my
torch, glass and kiln. Plus when the kiln was on for several hours it
would get really hot and I would have to open up the window and doors
to cool it off. Yesterday, John came and built me a ventilations system
and will return today to finish it. The glass was just laying
everywhere because I left the cabinet in Texas. On Monday I will have
to put everything back together. I have a BBQ to go to tonight at my
friend Jama's and to visit Maxwell. This is a necklace Jama made using
some of my liquid silver lined beads! Isn't she a great designer!!!
Till next time, Bernadette Wednesday, April 9th, Where
does the time go!! I have been working really hard making beads and
jewelry. Getting ready to go to Texas to deal with the house and see
friends. My friend Jama has been helping me make jewelry! She is a
fantastic designer. She made a necklace that is to die for. I will try
to take a pic of it soon so that you can see how fabulous it is. I have
decided to keep this one and when you see it you will understand
why!!!! Well have to get back to the torch to finish my orders. Till next time, Bernadette
Monday, March 31st
For my 50th B'Day I wanted to go swimming with the
Dolphins!!! Well, because we still have not sold our house in Texas
that did not happen. That is OK with me because it has been a great
week. My grandchildren spent the night and it was a blast with them.
Then my DH and his family organized a family B'Day party. They were so
kind and generous! This is a pic of me opening up the present my DH
gave me. It is a Brighton purse called Cher! And today we got an offer
on the house in Texas. WooooHoooo Still need to look at the numbers. By the way the Kaleidoscope was a B"Day gift. My granddaughter loved it.
 Till next time!
Thursday, March 27th I
have been working hard making beads to make jewelry. I have a few
galleries that are needing more jewelry and a couple new ones. Julie
Nordine who I met at last years ISGB Gathering came to town. We had
lunch spent a little time on the torch and went to a glass bead
meeting. Look at what she has gifted me with. Isn't it BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
Sunday, March 23rd Happy Easter to everyone!!! Today is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ form the dead.
Till next time, Bernadette
Thursday, March 20th, Look
who has come to visit! My friend Jama and her husband are on vacation
this week and have asked me to care for Maxwell (aka Max). He follows
me every where I go. He weighs all of 5 lbs. He put his head up and
howls like a great big hound dog. Max will be here for four days.

Till next time, BernadetteMonday, March 17th, Happy
St. Patrick's Day, and top o' the mornin' to ye! Today is the day to
wear green. I always have a hard time finding something to wear. Guess
I should plan ahead. Well maybe next year. Yah right! Even as a child I
had a hard time finding something to wear. For dinner yesterday I made
a corned beef roast so that we could have rubens. With sour kraut and
horse radish on grilled sour dough bread. I know, I know it should have
been today but it was easier yesterday and very delicious. By
the way I forgot to mention that while looking to see if my
sister-in-law and brother-in-law made the paper my DH discovered that
our picture make it into the news paper.

Yesterday my DH and I went to the St. Patrick's Parade. We
got there early and got a great spot close to the VIP tent. The morning was
kind of cold but we got a spot between two buildings where the sun was peeking
through so we stayed very warm. The parade got started a little late and it was
a very, very, very long parade. We went to see my sister-in-law and brother-in-law.
Here is a picture of them in their vintage truck. It is a beauty and sparkled
in the sun.

Although
I did not do anything different or special on Leap Year our extra day I
did do something special this weekend. My granddaughter and I made
cookies. This was the first time she has ever make cookies. It was lots
of fun and she did a great job. The balls were too close and big so she
ended up with on great big cookie. She did get tire at the end and did
not want to finish but she hung in and completed the task.

Today
is Leap Year!!! We have one extra day. What will you do with it? As for
me I will be making beads. I am trying to catch up on my orders from
Tucson. Stayed healthy even though many people were sick with the flue
in Tucson and then came home to a sick husband and father in law and
the rest of the family. Then wham!!!! I got the flue. It was horrible.
Had to stay in bed and almost coughed up a lung and sneezed up a rib.
Still coughing a little. Hope you do something special on this extra
day!

Thursday January 24th
While living in Texas we saw very
little snow. In fact in the 12 year we live there I say snow only 2
time and the first time does not really count because in never stuck to
the ground. In November my DH and I had to go back to Texas to get my
vehicle. On the way through west Texas the cotton fields were being
harvested and the field looked like snow. The first picture is of one
of those fields. The second picture is of a field in Boulder right
after a snow fall. I so enjoy taking picture of landscapes, sunset,
snow and family and, and, and, well just about everything!!!! LOL Hope
you enjoy looking at the pictures.

Till next time,

Tuesday January 15th A very special day!!

Can
you believe it a week into the New Year!! My DH and I have a tradition
when we would visit Denver for Christmas we would go down town and see
a movie. But on Christmas there was so much snow that we did not make
it down town. So! on New Years day we went down town Denver to see
National Treasure then went out to dinner. My DH was walking toward me
when I got this picture. It looks like the bull is following as he is
walking away.

Till next time,
